Immunizations and a Visit from Edgardo

The two amigos at the temple site

Our good friend, Edgardo Carbajal, works for the church as an Area Director in the Temple Department. His job took him to Santiago last week. We were so excited because at the end of the week he was going to come and visit us for a few days. Edgardo has a great conversion story and a great life story. We asked if he would be kind enough to share it with our missionaries while he was here. He agreed and we set up two mini zone conferences for Friday, the 25th of April. It's just a one hour flight from Santiago to here and we went to the airport to pick him up Thursday evening at
7:30 p.m.  His plane tried to land twice but due to heavy fog they had to turn around and go back to Santiago. They put all the passengers on a bus and took them to Vina Del Mar - 1 1/2 hours away to put them up for the night. The hotel had dinner waiting for them when they arrived at 2:30 in the morning! After sleeping for a few hours they got back on the bus at 7:00 a.m. and headed back to Santiago, hoping to catch an early flight. Sadly, the fog was still bad. They kept predicting it would lift and they would be able to get all the passengers to Concepcion. He sat around the airport all day waiting and finally got on a bus to Concepcion at 4:00 p.m. He arrived here at 10:30 p.m. Sadly, he didn't make it out in time for the Zone Conferences but we still had a little surprise for the missionaries.
It was also immunization day here in the Chile Concepcion Mission. Sister Balden, our mission nurse, was great at giving them and it was quick and painless. Some of the missionaries did ham it up a little for the camera though :)  We had a wonderful (but very short) visit with Edgardo and he did get to see the Concepcion temple site while he was here.

  1. Glad he made it. Bet it was fun to see him. To bad he didn't make it to talk to the missionaries. He will just have to come back another time :)

  2. I didn't realize he was supposed to speak to your missionaries! Wish he could have made it there in time. He loved getting to see the two of you though!
