Remember the Christmas song Baby It's Cold Outside? Here in Chile we sing it a little different - Baby It's Cold Inside! It's a beautiful, sunny, 54° day outside today but inside the church is a whole different story. The churches here are made of cement, even the inside walls. They don't heat the buildings (well they can heat them but 95% of the time there is a problem - the heater is broke, the guy with the key to the heater is out of town for a month, etc...) As a result it is WAY colder inside than outside. Everyone bundles up for church. Here's what I wore today - a blouse, a sweater, a jacket, a slip, a skirt, tights, leggings, socks, boots, scarf, gloves and a coat. I also used a blanket and hand warmers. We keep a portable heater in our car for missionary training meetings. Even with all those layers I still froze for the entire three hour meeting. Baby It's Cold Inside! Even though my body was cold my heart was warm. It is such an amazing blessing to be able to spend time with the missionaries everyday. They are enthusiastic, energetic, loving, kind, wise beyond their years, and spiritual. Everyday is a great day when you get to spend it with the missionaries.
You're missing out on our 100 degree weather! Baby it is hot outside! Hopefully, you'll get acclimated soon. It is great to follow your adventures in Chile. Kent, you look very presidential! And Michelle, we know the missionaries will love you because of your sweet and genuine approach to people. Thanks for allowing us to share in your mission experience.
