I Love To See The Temple...

Chilean Saints could not hold back their tears, cheers, and embraces of joy and gratitude at the announcement of the ConcepciĆ³n Chile Temple given by President Thomas S. Monson during the Saturday morning session of General Conference, on October 3, 2009. This temple will be Chile's second. The nation's other temple—the Santiago Chile Temple—currently serves 104 stakes and districts from Chile and Argentina. (http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/concepcion/)

In early 2010 there was a massive earthquake very close to Concepcion. Since then construction workers and materials have been used in rebuilding the city. But rumor on the street is that the temple groundbreaking will be soon. We are so excited to be here during the building of the temple. We can see the temple site out our window and it is an easy walk from our home. Here's an aerial view of the site also courtesy of http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/concepcion/

Our home is at the top of Inglesa

A couple of shots of the lot right now -

And here's what it will look like in a few years -

Muy Hermoso!
Most people here don't have cars so to get to the temple the ward charters a bus about every other month. It leaves Concepcion about 11:00 p.m. on Friday and gets to Santiago as the temple is opening on Saturday. They stay long enough to do two sessions and climb back on the bus for the long ride home. I think it costs about $34 a person which is a sacrifice for many of the members here. This temple will be such a blessing to the saints here in Concepcion.

"As we go to the holy house, as we remember the covenants we make therein, we will be able to bear every trial and overcome each temptation. The temple provides purpose for our lives. It brings peace to our souls - not the peace provided by men but the peace promised by the Son of God when He said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."  President Thomas S. Monson
