Search and Rescue

This post is dedicated to our good friend Larry, a fire fighter and an all around great guy.

In December of 1998 Elder Dallas Archibald, of the Seventy, drowned while fishing in the Bio Bio River. The local fire department found his body several days later. In appreciation, the church donated a search and rescue truck for water rescues. Recently, the church donated money to help upgrade the equipment. Because of this, the fire department and the church have a great relationship. We were recently invited to the annual awards ceremony for the Concepcion Unit 167. They honored many fire fighters - one who received an award for being with the department for 70 years!! They expressed appreciation to the church for their support. Sorry for the iphone pictures but we forgot the camera.

This is a room at the fire station dedicated to Elder Archibald. There are cots set up inside and they told us that any of our missionaries who need a place to stay for a night or two are welcome there.
